Sañjaya uvāca
एवमुक्तो हृषीकेशो गुडाकेशेन भारत |
सेनयोरुभयोर्मध्ये स्थापयित्वा रथोत्तमम् ||
evam ukto hṛṣīkeśo guḍākeśena bhārata |
senayor ubhayor madhye sthāpayitvā rathottamam ||
O descendant of Bharata, thus addressed by Arjuna, Krishna drove the finest chariot into the space between the two armies.
Sanjaya names both heroes by new epithets here: Hrishikesha — master of the senses — drives, and Gudakesha — conqueror of sleep — commands. Krishna silently obeys his devotee's request without comment. The teacher's method begins with service, not instruction.
