Chapter XIII · Śloka 10
असक्तिरनभिष्वङ्गः पुत्रदारगृहादिषु ।
नित्यं च समचित्तत्वमिष्टानिष्टोपपत्तिषु ॥
नित्यं च समचित्तत्वमिष्टानिष्टोपपत्तिषु ॥
asaktiranabhiṣvaṅgaḥ putra-dāra-gṛhādiṣu |
nityaṃ ca sama-cittatvam iṣṭāniṣṭopapattiṣu ||
nityaṃ ca sama-cittatvam iṣṭāniṣṭopapattiṣu ||
Non-attachment, absence of clinging to sons, wife, home and the like, and constant evenness of mind in desirable and undesirable events —
The aspirant must release deep emotional entanglements with family and possessions without becoming cold or indifferent. Equanimity — the same steady mind in both pleasant and unpleasant circumstances — is the mark of genuine inner freedom.
