Chapter XIII · Śloka 3
क्षेत्रज्ञं चापि मां विद्धि सर्वक्षेत्रेषु भारत ।
क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञयोर्ज्ञानं यत्तज्ज्ञानं मतं मम ॥
क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञयोर्ज्ञानं यत्तज्ज्ञानं मतं मम ॥
kṣetrajñaṃ cāpi māṃ viddhi sarva-kṣetreṣu bhārata |
kṣetra-kṣetrajñayor jñānaṃ yat taj jñānaṃ mataṃ mama ||
kṣetra-kṣetrajñayor jñānaṃ yat taj jñānaṃ mataṃ mama ||
Know Me also as the Knower of the field in all fields, O Bhārata. Knowledge of the field and the knower of the field — that, in My view, is true knowledge.
This is the pivot of the chapter: Kṛṣṇa declares Himself to be the supreme Kṣetrajña dwelling in every body as the universal witness. Real jñāna is not mere information but the direct realization of this field-knower relationship.
