Chapter XVII · Śloka 7
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
आहारस्त्वपि सर्वस्य त्रिविधो भवति प्रियः |
यज्ञस्तपस्तथा दानं तेषां भेदमिमं शृणु ||
āhāras tv api sarvasya tri-vidho bhavati priyaḥ |
yajñas tapas tathā dānaṃ teṣāṃ bhedam imaṃ śṛṇu ||
Even the food that all people prefer is of three kinds, as are sacrifice, austerity, and charity. Hear now the distinctions among them.
The analysis of śraddhā now unfolds into the most concrete aspects of daily life: what we eat, how we offer, what we endure, and what we give. Each of these four becomes a window into one's inner constitution.
