Chapter III · Śloka 18
नैव तस्य कृतेनार्थो नाकृतेनेह कश्चन |
न चास्य सर्वभूतेषु कश्चिदर्थव्यपाश्रयः ||
न चास्य सर्वभूतेषु कश्चिदर्थव्यपाश्रयः ||
naiva tasya kṛtenārtho nākṛteneha kaścana |
na cāsya sarva-bhūteṣu kaścid artha-vyapāśrayaḥ ||
na cāsya sarva-bhūteṣu kaścid artha-vyapāśrayaḥ ||
Such a person has no purpose to gain by actions done, nor any loss by actions not done. Nor does such a person depend on any being for any purpose.
The liberated one is neither enriched by action nor diminished by inaction, and has no dependence that could bind or motivate. This is the portrait of the jīvanmukta — liberated while still alive.
