Chapter III · Śloka 20
कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिमास्थिता जनकादयः |
लोकसङ्ग्रहमेवापि सम्पश्यन्कर्तुमर्हसि ||

karmaṇaiva hi saṃsiddhim āsthitā janakādayaḥ |
loka-saṅgraham evāpi sampaśyan kartum arhasi ||

Indeed, it was by action alone that Janaka and others attained perfection. You should also act, keeping in view the welfare and holding together of the world.
Janaka, the philosopher-king who remained fully engaged in royal duties while inwardly free, is the paradigmatic example. The concept of loka-saṅgraha — the welfare and cohesion of society — introduces social responsibility as a spiritual motive.
