Chapter III · Śloka 43
एवं बुद्धेः परं बुद्ध्वा संस्तभ्यात्मानमात्मना ।
जहि शत्रुं महाबाहो कामरूपं दुरासदम् ॥
जहि शत्रुं महाबाहो कामरूपं दुरासदम् ॥
evaṃ buddheḥ paraṃ buddhvā saṃstabhyātmānam ātmanā |
jahi śatruṃ mahābāho kāma-rūpaṃ durāsadam ||
jahi śatruṃ mahābāho kāma-rūpaṃ durāsadam ||
Thus knowing that which is beyond the intellect, steadying the self by the Self, O Mighty-armed, slay the enemy in the form of desire, so hard to overcome.
The chapter closes with a warrior's call: armed with the supreme knowledge of the Self's transcendence over body, senses, mind, and intellect, Arjuna must use that higher Self to stabilise the lower self and then annihilate desire — the true enemy that is far more formidable than any human adversary on the battlefield.
