Chapter IV · Śloka 13
चातुर्वर्ण्यं मया सृष्टं गुणकर्मविभागशः ।
तस्य कर्तारमपि मां विद्ध्यकर्तारमव्ययम् ॥
तस्य कर्तारमपि मां विद्ध्यकर्तारमव्ययम् ॥
cātur-varṇyaṃ mayā sṛṣṭaṃ guṇa-karma-vibhāgaśaḥ |
tasya kartāram api māṃ viddhy akartāram avyayam ||
tasya kartāram api māṃ viddhy akartāram avyayam ||
The fourfold order was created by Me according to the division of quality and action; though I am its creator, know Me as the non-doer and immutable.
The four varṇas are grounded in guṇa-karma rather than birth, making the classification natural and functional. More importantly, the Creator remains unbound by creation—the paradigm for all action without ego-identity.
