Chapter IV · Śloka 28
द्रव्ययज्ञास्तपोयज्ञा योगयज्ञास्तथापरे |
स्वाध्यायज्ञानयज्ञाश्च यतयः संशितव्रताः ||
स्वाध्यायज्ञानयज्ञाश्च यतयः संशितव्रताः ||
dravya-yajñās tapo-yajñā yoga-yajñās tathāpare |
svādhyāya-jñāna-yajñāś ca yatayaḥ saṃśita-vratāḥ ||
svādhyāya-jñāna-yajñāś ca yatayaḥ saṃśita-vratāḥ ||
Some offer material sacrifice, others sacrifice through austerity, others through yoga, while yet others — ascetics of sharp vows — offer sacrifice through scriptural study and knowledge.
Wealth given in charity, physical austerity, the practice of yoga, the study of sacred texts — all are forms of sacrifice. The variety of disciplines is honored; the sincere practitioner of any one is on the path.
