Chapter VII · Śloka 8
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
रसोऽहमप्सु कौन्तेय प्रभास्मि शशिसूर्ययोः ।
प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः खे पौरुषं नृषु ॥
raso 'ham apsu kaunteya prabhāsmi śaśi-sūryayoḥ |
praṇavaḥ sarva-vedeṣu śabdaḥ khe pauruṣaṃ nṛṣu ||
I am the taste in water, O Kaunteya; I am the radiance of the moon and sun; I am the sacred syllable Oṃ in all the Vedas, the sound in space, and manhood in men.
Krishna identifies himself with the essential, irreducible quality of each thing — not the gross object but the living principle within it. Taste in water, light in celestial bodies, the primordial Oṃ in scripture: these are the divine signatures woven into the fabric of experience.
