Chapter VIII · Śloka 12
सर्वद्वाराणि संयम्य मनो हृदि निरुध्य च ।
मूर्ध्न्याधायात्मनः प्राणमास्थितो योगधारणाम् ॥
sarva-dvārāṇi saṃyamya mano hṛdi nirudhya ca |
mūrdhny ādhāyātmanaḥ prāṇam āsthito yoga-dhāraṇām ||
Having restrained all the gates of the body, confined the mind in the heart, fixed one's prāṇa in the head, established in yogic concentration —
The yogic discipline at the moment of departure: all sense-gates are closed, the mind is withdrawn into the heart-centre, and the life-force is consciously directed upward to the crown — preparatory to the utterance of the syllable Oṃ.
