Sañjaya uvāca
दृष्ट्वा तु पाण्डवानीकं व्यूढं दुर्योधनस्तदा |
आचार्यमुपसङ्गम्य राजा वचनमब्रवीत् ||
आचार्यमुपसङ्गम्य राजा वचनमब्रवीत् ||
dṛṣṭvā tu pāṇḍavānīkaṃ vyūḍhaṃ duryodhanas tadā |
ācāryam upasaṅgamya rājā vacanam abravīt ||

At that time, after seeing the army of the Pandavas arranged in military formation, King Duryodhana approached his teacher Drona and spoke these words.
Duryodhana's first instinct is to survey the enemy with the eye of a general, not a king. His immediate move toward Drona — his teacher — reveals both his tactical mind and the tragic irony that the same teacher trained both sides of this war.
