Arjuna uvāca
अथ व्यवस्थितान्दृष्ट्वा धार्तराष्ट्रान्कपिध्वजः |
प्रवृत्ते शस्त्रसम्पाते धनुरुद्यम्य पाण्डवः |
हृषीकेशं तदा वाक्यमिदमाह महीपते ||
प्रवृत्ते शस्त्रसम्पाते धनुरुद्यम्य पाण्डवः |
हृषीकेशं तदा वाक्यमिदमाह महीपते ||
atha vyavasthitān dṛṣṭvā dhārtarāṣṭrān kapi-dhvajaḥ |
pravṛtte śastra-sampāte dhanur udyamya pāṇḍavaḥ |
hṛṣīkeśaṃ tadā vākyam idam āha mahī-pate ||
pravṛtte śastra-sampāte dhanur udyamya pāṇḍavaḥ |
hṛṣīkeśaṃ tadā vākyam idam āha mahī-pate ||
At that time, O King, seeing the sons of Dhritarashtra standing in battle array and the arrows about to be released, Arjuna, whose flag bore the insignia of Hanuman, took up his bow and spoke the following words to Krishna.
The Pandava is now identified by his banner — Hanuman, the supreme devotee and servant. The flag blazons his identity even as he is about to question it. Weapons are drawn, war is seconds away, and only now does Arjuna speak.
