Chapter XI · Śloka 55
मत्कर्मकृन्मत्परमो मद्भक्तः सङ्गवर्जितः |
निर्वैरः सर्वभूतेषु यः स मामेति पाण्डव ||
निर्वैरः सर्वभूतेषु यः स मामेति पाण्डव ||
mat-karma-kṛn mat-paramo mad-bhaktaḥ saṅga-varjitaḥ |
nirvairaḥ sarva-bhūteṣu yaḥ sa mām eti pāṇḍava ||
nirvairaḥ sarva-bhūteṣu yaḥ sa mām eti pāṇḍava ||
One who performs actions for Me, who considers Me the supreme goal, who is devoted to Me, who is free from attachment, and who bears no enmity toward any being — he comes to Me, O son of Pāṇḍu.
The chapter that opened with Arjuna's request to see the cosmic form closes with the simplest possible description of the human who finds the divine: one who works, loves, releases, and harms no one. The vision of the infinite ends in an ethics of everyday life.
