Chapter XIII · Śloka 27
यावत्सञ्जायते किञ्चित्सत्त्वं स्थावरजङ्गमम् ।
क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञसंयोगात्तद्विद्धि भरतर्षभ ॥
क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञसंयोगात्तद्विद्धि भरतर्षभ ॥
yāvat sañjāyate kiñcit sattvaṃ sthāvara-jaṅgamam |
kṣetra-kṣetrajña-saṃyogāt tad viddhi bharatarṣabha ||
kṣetra-kṣetrajña-saṃyogāt tad viddhi bharatarṣabha ||
Whatever being is born — stationary or moving — know that it arises from the union of the field and the knower of the field, O best of the Bharatas.
Every manifest entity, from a blade of grass to a human being, is the result of the conjunction of matter (kṣetra) and consciousness (kṣetrajña). Creation itself is this meeting of the inert and the sentient — a key Sāṅkhya-Vedānta insight.
