Chapter XV · Śloka 17
उत्तमः पुरुषस्त्वन्यः
परमात्मेत्युदाहृतः ।
यो लोकत्रयमाविश्य
बिभर्त्यव्यय ईश्वरः ॥
परमात्मेत्युदाहृतः ।
यो लोकत्रयमाविश्य
बिभर्त्यव्यय ईश्वरः ॥
uttamaḥ puruṣas tv anyaḥ
paramātmety udāhṛtaḥ |
yo loka-trayam āviśya
bibharty avyaya īśvaraḥ ||
paramātmety udāhṛtaḥ |
yo loka-trayam āviśya
bibharty avyaya īśvaraḥ ||
But the Highest Person is different — called the Supreme Self, the imperishable Lord who, pervading the three worlds, sustains them.
Beyond both the perishable world-process and the imperishable unmanifest stands the Uttama Puruṣa — the Supreme Person — who is the Paramātman, the immutable Sovereign pervading and sustaining all three planes of existence. This is Kṛṣṇa's own transcendent identity.
