Chapter XVIII · Śloka 13
पञ्चैतानि महाबाहो कारणानि निबोध मे ।
साङ्ख्ये कृतान्ते प्रोक्तानि सिद्धये सर्वकर्मणाम् ॥
साङ्ख्ये कृतान्ते प्रोक्तानि सिद्धये सर्वकर्मणाम् ॥
pañcaitāni mahābāho kāraṇāni nibodha me |
sāṅkhye kṛtānte proktāni siddhaye sarva-karmaṇām ||
sāṅkhye kṛtānte proktāni siddhaye sarva-karmaṇām ||
Learn from me, O mighty-armed, the five causes declared in the Sāṅkhya system for the accomplishment of all actions.
Krishna now draws on the Sāṅkhya philosophical framework to analyze action into its constitutive causes. Understanding causation demystifies the ego's false claim of sole agency.
