Chapter XVIII · Śloka 25
अनुबन्धं क्षयं हिंसामनपेक्ष्य च पौरुषम् ।
मोहादारभ्यते कर्म यत्तत्तामसमुच्यते ॥
anubandhaṃ kṣayaṃ hiṃsām anapekṣya ca pauruṣam |
mohād ārabhyate karma yat tat tāmasam ucyate ||
Action undertaken out of delusion, without regard for consequences, loss, injury to others, or one's own capacity — that is called tāmasika.
Tāmasika action is reckless and heedless — born of confusion, it ignores harm, waste, and the limits of ability. Such action is darkness in motion and multiplies suffering.
