Chapter II · Śloka 39
एषा तेऽभिहिता सांख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां शृणु |
बुद्ध्या युक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि ||
बुद्ध्या युक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि ||
eṣā te 'bhihitā sāṃkhye buddhir yoge tv imāṃ śṛṇu |
buddhyā yukto yayā pārtha karma-bandhaṃ prahāsyasi ||
buddhyā yukto yayā pārtha karma-bandhaṃ prahāsyasi ||
Thus far I have described this knowledge to you through philosophical analysis. Now listen as I explain it in terms of working without fruitive results. O son of Pritha, when you act in such knowledge you can free yourself from the bondage of works.
Krishna marks a clear transition: the jñāna path (Sāṅkhya) has been laid out; now begins karma yoga. Both aim at the same liberation, but through different roads. To work without being bound by results is not lesser than knowledge — it is knowledge in action.
