Chapter II · Śloka 66
नास्ति बुद्धिरयुक्तस्य न चायुक्तस्य भावना |
न चाभावयतः शान्तिरशान्तस्य कुतः सुखम् ||
न चाभावयतः शान्तिरशान्तस्य कुतः सुखम् ||
nāsti buddhir ayuktasya na cāyuktasya bhāvanā |
na cābhāvayataḥ śāntir aśāntasya kutaḥ sukham ||
na cābhāvayataḥ śāntir aśāntasya kutaḥ sukham ||
There is no wisdom for the unsteady, nor for the unsteady any contemplation. Without contemplation there is no peace, and without peace how can there be happiness?
A tightly interlocked chain stated in reverse: no happiness without peace, no peace without contemplation, no contemplation without a steadied mind. Each link depends on the one below it — the entire edifice of wellbeing rests on inner stability.
