Chapter V · Śloka 25
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
लभन्ते ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृषयः क्षीणकल्मषाः |
छिन्नद्वैधा यतात्मानः सर्वभूतहिते रताः ||
छिन्नद्वैधा यतात्मानः सर्वभूतहिते रताः ||
labhante brahma-nirvāṇam ṛṣayaḥ kṣīṇa-kalmaṣāḥ |
chinna-dvaidhā yatātmānaḥ sarva-bhūta-hite ratāḥ ||
chinna-dvaidhā yatātmānaḥ sarva-bhūta-hite ratāḥ ||
The seers who have diminished impurities, whose doubts are cut asunder, who are self-controlled, and who delight in the welfare of all beings — they attain the peace of Brahman.
Four characteristics of the liberated seer: impurities thinned by practice, the knot of inner doubt severed, the self mastered, and compassion expanded to encompass all beings. None of these is incidental; together they form the full portrait of one who has arrived.
