Chapter V · Śloka 6
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
संन्यासस्तु महाबाहो दुःखमाप्तुमयोगतः |
योगयुक्तो मुनिर्ब्रह्म नचिरेणाधिगच्छति ||
sannyāsas tu mahā-bāho duḥkham āptum ayogataḥ |
yoga-yukto munir brahma na cireṇādhigacchati ||
But renunciation, O mighty-armed one, is difficult to attain without yoga. The sage equipped with yoga swiftly reaches Brahman.
Dry renunciation — giving up the world without inner transformation — leads only to misery. The yogi, whose mind is disciplined through practice, attains the Absolute quickly, because the path has been prepared from within.
