Chapter V · Śloka 9
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
प्रलपन्विसृजन्गृह्णन्नुन्मिषन्निमिषन्नपि |
इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेषु वर्तन्त इति धारयन् ||
pralapan visṛjan gṛhṇann unmiṣan nimiṣann api |
indriyāṇīndriyārtheṣu vartanta iti dhārayan ||
— speaking, releasing, grasping, opening and closing the eyes — he holds that the senses move among sense-objects and that he himself does nothing.
The second half of the thought: even the most intimate bodily movements — blinking, speaking, grasping — are understood as the senses interacting with their objects. The self watches without being involved. This is the knowledge that dissolves the burden of false doership.
