Chapter VIII · Śloka 9
कविं पुराणमनुशासितारम्
अणोरणीयांसमनुस्मरेद्यः ।
सर्वस्य धातारमचिन्त्यरूपम्
आदित्यवर्णं तमसः परस्तात् ॥
अणोरणीयांसमनुस्मरेद्यः ।
सर्वस्य धातारमचिन्त्यरूपम्
आदित्यवर्णं तमसः परस्तात् ॥
kaviṃ purāṇam anuśāsitāram
aṇor aṇīyāṃsam anusmared yaḥ |
sarvasya dhātāram acintya-rūpam
āditya-varṇaṃ tamasaḥ parastāt ||
aṇor aṇīyāṃsam anusmared yaḥ |
sarvasya dhātāram acintya-rūpam
āditya-varṇaṃ tamasaḥ parastāt ||
One who meditates on the Omniscient, the Ancient, the Ruler, smaller than the smallest, the Supporter of all, of inconceivable form, luminous as the sun, beyond darkness —
Krishna describes the object of contemplation: the Supreme is the all-knowing seer (kavi), beginningless, the cosmic ruler, subtler than the atom, the substratum of all, of unimaginable form, and self-luminous beyond all ignorance.
