Chapter XVI · Śloka 3
तेजः क्षमा धृतिः शौचमद्रोहो नातिमानिता ।
भवन्ति सम्पदं दैवीमभिजातस्य भारत ॥
tejaḥ kṣamā dhṛtiḥ śaucam adroho nātimānitā |
bhavanti sampadaṃ daivīm abhijātasya bhārata ||
Vigour, forgiveness, fortitude, purity, freedom from malice, and absence of excessive pride — these belong to one born to the divine endowment, O Bhārata.
Krishna closes the triad of verses on divine qualities with vigour (tejas), fortitude (dhṛti), and the crucial nātimānitā — not lack of self-respect but freedom from inflated pride. Together the twenty-six qualities paint the portrait of a soul fit for liberation.
