Chapter XVIII · Śloka 61
ईश्वरः सर्वभूतानां हृद्देशेऽर्जुन तिष्ठति ।
भ्रामयन्सर्वभूतानि यन्त्रारूढानि मायया ॥
भ्रामयन्सर्वभूतानि यन्त्रारूढानि मायया ॥
īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṃ hṛd-deśe'rjuna tiṣṭhati |
bhrāmayan sarva-bhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā ||
bhrāmayan sarva-bhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā ||
The Lord dwells in the heart-region of all beings, O Arjuna, causing all beings to revolve by His power of illusion, as if mounted on a machine.
This is one of the Gita's most direct statements of divine immanence: the same Īśvara who is the cosmic mover dwells intimately in every heart. The image of beings mounted on a machine (yantra) underscores that without surrender to that inner Lord, life is mere mechanical rotation.
