Chapter II · Śloka 25
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
अव्यक्तोऽयमचिन्त्योऽयमविकार्योऽयमुच्यते |
तस्मादेवं विदित्वैनं नानुशोचितुमर्हसि ||
तस्मादेवं विदित्वैनं नानुशोचितुमर्हसि ||
avyakto 'yam acintyo 'yam avikāryo 'yam ucyate |
tasmād evaṃ viditvainaṃ nānuśocitum arhasi ||
tasmād evaṃ viditvainaṃ nānuśocitum arhasi ||
It is said that the soul is invisible, inconceivable, and immutable. Knowing this, you should not grieve for the body.
Three negations — not manifest, not conceivable by mind, not subject to change — point toward what the self is by declaring what it is not. That which cannot be seen, grasped, or altered cannot truly be harmed. Grief dissolves when this is understood.
