Chapter II · Śloka 43
कामात्मानः स्वर्गपरा जन्मकर्मफलप्रदाम् |
क्रियाविशेषबहुलां भोगैश्वर्यगतिं प्रति ||
kāmātmānaḥ svarga-parā janma-karma-phala-pradām |
kriyā-viśeṣa-bahulāṃ bhogaiśvarya-gatiṃ prati ||
Being full of desires and desiring heavenly planets, they say there is nothing more than this. Their purpose is sense enjoyment and opulence, and the goal of life is pleasures and luxury.
This verse continues the description of the desire-bound mentality: their horizon is pleasure, their highest aspiration is heaven, and they mistake ritual technique for spiritual understanding. They have read the menu but never tasted the meal.
