Chapter II · Śloka 52
यदा ते मोहकलिलं बुद्धिर्व्यतितरिष्यति |
तदा गन्तासि निर्वेदं श्रोतव्यस्य श्रुतस्य च ||
तदा गन्तासि निर्वेदं श्रोतव्यस्य श्रुतस्य च ||
yadā te moha-kalilaṃ buddhir vyatitariṣyati |
tadā gantāsi nirvedaṃ śrotavyasya śrutasya ca ||
tadā gantāsi nirvedaṃ śrotavyasya śrutasya ca ||
When your intellect crosses over the thicket of delusion, then you will become indifferent to all that has been heard and all that is yet to be heard.
Moha-kalila, 'the dense jungle of delusion', is a striking image: the spiritual seeker does not merely glimpse a clearing but must traverse and leave the entire tangle behind. When that crossing happens, even the injunctions of scripture lose their coercive grip — not because they are wrong, but because the Self shines without external support.
