As waters flow into the ocean, which remains full and unmoved, so all desires enter the sage who attains peace — not one who craves desires.
The ocean simile: desires, like rivers, pour in endlessly, yet the ocean neither swells with joy nor shrinks in their absence — it remains acala, unmoved. The sage is like this: the world's flow of pleasure and pain enters and is absorbed without disturbing the inner stillness.
