समं कायशिरोग्रीवं धारयन्नचलं स्थिरः |
सम्प्रेक्ष्य नासिकाग्रं स्वं दिशश्चानवलोकयन् ||

samaṃ kāya-śiro-grīvaṃ dhārayann acalaṃ sthiraḥ |
samprekṣya nāsikāgraṃ svaṃ diśaś cānavalokayan ||

Holding the body, head, and neck erect and still, gazing at the tip of one's own nose without looking in any direction —
The alignment of body, head, and neck is not mere aesthetics: a straight spine allows the subtle energies to move freely, and the gaze turned inward — symbolized by the focus on the nasal tip — signals the withdrawal of attention from the external world. Posture and awareness are one practice.
