Chapter VI · Śloka 21
सुखमात्यन्तिकं यत्तद्बुद्धिग्राह्यमतीन्द्रियम् |
वेत्ति यत्र न चैवायं स्थितश्चलति तत्त्वतः ||
वेत्ति यत्र न चैवायं स्थितश्चलति तत्त्वतः ||
sukham ātyantikaṃ yat tad buddhi-grāhyam atīndriyam |
vetti yatra na caivāyaṃ sthitaś calati tattvataḥ ||
vetti yatra na caivāyaṃ sthitaś calati tattvataḥ ||
One knows that supreme happiness which is grasped by the intellect yet transcends the senses — established in which, one does not move from the truth.
Ātyantikaṃ sukha — limitless, ultimate happiness — is distinguished here from all sensory pleasure by being atīndriyam, beyond the senses, yet graspable by the purified buddhi. It is not inaccessible mysticism but the deeper happiness the intellect itself can recognize and rest in.
