Chapter VI · Śloka 22
यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते नाधिकं ततः |
यस्मिन्स्थितो न दुःखेन गुरुणापि विचाल्यते ||
yaṃ labdhvā cāparaṃ lābhaṃ manyate nādhikaṃ tataḥ |
yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vicālyate ||
Having obtained which, one considers no other gain greater; and established in which, one is not shaken even by the heaviest sorrow.
The test of genuine yogic attainment is not blissful experience during meditation but stability in the face of life's heaviest blows. The depth of one's roots in the self is measured precisely by what can no longer uproot one. This is the promise: not immunity from sorrow, but a ground deeper than sorrow can reach.
