Chapter VII · Śloka 14
Śrī Kṛṣṇa uvāca
दैवी ह्येषा गुणमयी मम माया दुरत्यया ।
मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते ॥
मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते ॥
daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā |
mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṃ taranti te ||
mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṃ taranti te ||
This divine māyā of Mine, composed of the three guṇas, is difficult to cross over. But those who take refuge in Me alone cross beyond this māyā.
Māyā is called daivī (divine) — it is not a cosmic mistake but the Lord's own creative power, hence inherently transcendable only through the Lord. Prapadyante (surrender, taking refuge) is the operative verb: not intellectual analysis alone but a total orientation of the self toward the divine dissolves māyā's spell.
