Chapter VIII · Śloka 15
मामुपेत्य पुनर्जन्म दुःखालयमशाश्वतम् ।
नाप्नुवन्ति महात्मानः संसिद्धिं परमां गताः ॥

mām upetya punar janma duḥkhālayam aśāśvatam |
nāpnuvanti mahātmānaḥ saṃsiddhiṃ paramāṃ gatāḥ ||
nāpnuvanti mahātmānaḥ saṃsiddhiṃ paramāṃ gatāḥ ||
Having reached Me, the great souls who have attained the highest perfection do not undergo rebirth in this transient abode of sorrow.
Liberation means the ending of the cycle of rebirth. The world is characterised as duḥkhālaya — a dwelling-place of suffering — and aśāśvata — impermanent. To reach Krishna is to transcend this condition permanently.
