Chapter XV · Śloka 12
यदादित्यगतं तेजो
जगद्भासयतेऽखिलम् ।
यच्चन्द्रमसि यच्चाग्नौ
तत्तेजो विद्धि मामकम् ॥
जगद्भासयतेऽखिलम् ।
यच्चन्द्रमसि यच्चाग्नौ
तत्तेजो विद्धि मामकम् ॥
yad āditya-gataṃ tejo
jagad bhāsayate'khilam |
yac candramasi yac cāgnau
tat tejo viddhi māmakam ||
jagad bhāsayate'khilam |
yac candramasi yac cāgnau
tat tejo viddhi māmakam ||
Know that the light in the sun that illumines the entire world, and the light in the moon and in fire — that splendor is Mine.
All light in the universe — solar, lunar, and the glow of fire — is a manifestation of the Divine radiance; Kṛṣṇa declares Himself to be the luminosity behind every luminous thing. This verse directly links the Supreme Person to the Vedic understanding of Brahman as self-luminous (svayam-jyoti).
