Chapter XV · Śloka 6
न तद्भासयते सूर्यो
न शशाङ्को न पावकः ।
यद्गत्वा न निवर्तन्ते
तद्धाम परमं मम ॥
na tad bhāsayate sūryo
na śaśāṅko na pāvakaḥ |
yad gatvā na nivartante
tad dhāma paramaṃ mama ||
Neither the sun nor the moon nor fire illumines that — going there they do not return. That is My supreme abode.
The supreme abode is self-luminous, not dependent on any external light source; the sun, moon, and fire all derive their light from that ultimate source. This is the state of final liberation — mokṣa — from which there is no return to the cycle of birth and death.
