The Yoga of the Three Modes
All of material existence is woven from three strands of nature: sattva (clarity and goodness), rajas (passion and motion), and tamas (inertia and darkness). These three gunas determine the character of every thought, every action, every creature. The way to transcend them is not suppression but devotion — the one who serves the divine with unwavering love crosses beyond all three modes.
